On March 20, 2001, a gigantic earthquake struck Neopia and caused a huge chasm to form in the Ice Caves. The Ice Caves tunnel sloped downwards into the earth. As you proceeded downwards it started to get warmer, and the earth around you was dryer. The roots of strange plants cover the walls of the tunnel.
Eventually, after about a mile, the tunnel comes to a dead end. Roots and vines, and strange vegetation blocked your path.. oh well, looks like the only way now is back... but wait... what is happening...
This time, there were no special items needed to access all
the areas. Neopets had a different plot in mind for this world: invasion.
Tyrannia was invaded shortly after its discovery (April 26,
2001). Brave Neopians rushed into battle in the Tyrannian Arena to fight the
thousands of prehistoric Korbat invaders who started to pillage and loot Tyrannia's
village, Tyrammet. We fought off the Korbats, then faced the Chia Bombers, Fire
Grarrls and harder invaders until the final showdown: Monoceraptor.
This boss was only defeated when everyone began fighting him.

30th March We just received a report from Myncha from the Tyrannian Town Elders. On a mission to scout out the mud flats north of the plateau, he noticed some evil looking creatures slowly headed towards Tyrannia, before running away as fast as he could. If we have any more sightings we will keep you updated.
5th April Grarrg the Grarrl has called for a Town Meeting, he has some information about joining the Tyrannian Army.
26th April The Tyrannian Invasion has started!!!! Battle stations everybody. Thousands of prehistoric Korbat invaders have started to pillage and loot Tyrannia. Click here to help repel the intruders. The more Korbats that you defeat, the better your rank in the Tyrannian Army will be!
 Come on, we need all the help we can get!!!

8th May TYRANNIAN UPDATE - The battle is going well... the latest beasts to fly down from the northern plains are 1,000 Tyrannian Buzz. Can you help defeat the swarm???. All these enemies must be wiped out before Tyrannia can be restored to normality!!!
9th May 100 Grarrl Battlemasters have arrived in Tyrannia. The army looks like it is winning, and that Tyrannia will be totally destroyed!!! Please help!!! Click here for the latest update! Another 250 Battlemasters have arrived!!!
We have also received a message from someone... or something calling himself the MONOCERAPTOR. It states ... 'I WILL ARRIVE TOMORROW AND CARVE UP YOUR PUNY TYRANNIA. YOU HAD BETTER BE READY FOR ME'. Uh oh... As her contribution to the Tyrannian War Effort, Kauvara has permanently halved all the prices of the healing potions in her shop.
10th May - THE MONOCERAPTOR All 350 Grarrl Battlemasters have been defeated... however an eerie silence hangs over Tyrannia, as if something bad is about to happen... In anticipation of the Monoceraptor's arrival in Tyrannia... Kauvara is donating free Healing Potions at the Money Tree for the rest of today!
THE MONOCERAPTOR HAS ARRIVED - The evil leader behind the whole Tyrannian Invasion has arrived, and is ready to claim what is his! CAN ANYBODY STOP HIM??? Everybody in Neopia must join together to stop this evil beast! Click here now!
BATTLE UPDATE - The Monoceraptor has been defeated!!! The evil that plagues Tyrannia is no more!!! It will take a while to clean up after this battle, but you can be assured that everybody who participated will be rewarded with trophies and Neopoints tomorrow.

As the Monoceraptor falls to the ground, defeated by a single heroic Lupe, a slow, rasping voice can be heard across the whole of Tyrannia... 'That puny creature of mine has failed... but Neopia has not yet seen the last of me ... I will return... oh yes... I will return'.
11th May Every single person who participated in the Tyrannian Invasion by beating at least one enemy will be rewarded with 10,000 Neopoints, plus a medal that will always show on their User Lookup. In addition, the brave Lupe that dealt the killing blow will be rewarded with 1,000,000 Neopoints plus an item of his choice. Thanks to everybody for saving Tyrannia!!!

This old Neopian Times comic isn't really part of the plot (other than it was based on the war plushies that were released). I just happen to really like it...
Historians will be interested to note that this plot overlapped with the Ski Lodge Murder Mystery plot.
