Neopets - kelp

As we enter, the Maitre'D approaches to assist us:

Welcome to Kelp, Madam

We pride ourselves on our eclectic blend of both modern and traditional cuisine, which I am sure a connoisseur such as yourself will appreciate.

Do you have a reservation? What name will it be under?

Erm...we're just touring, thanks.

As I was saying, like Krawk Island there is a special restaurant. This is probably the most upscale eatery in Neopia. Good luck getting in, though. If you are lucky enough to get a table, here are some of the epicurean delights that may await you:
A succulent steak with a whirl of asparagus.
Rich, spicy and ultra creamy. This soup is a true luxury.
An extremely concentrate blast of Thornberry juice.
Ice cream, sorbet and assorted Maraquan berries all drizzled with honey.
Filet of Beef
Maraquan Cream Broth
Thornberry Brew
Honeyed Horn Of Plenty

If you are even luckier, you can take home some leftovers.

Maractite Marvels

*Real* warriors use weapons made of 100% pure Maractite. Anything else isn't worth your NP.

If you become tangled in this net it is impossible to cut yourself out.
On their fourteenth birthday every Maraquan girl is given a magical necklace just like this.
Maracite is quite expensive, so Maraquans often blend it with other materials such as shell to make their larger weapons.
This magical boomerang will slice through water as if it were air.
Maractite Throwing Net
Enchanted Maraquan Necklace
Maracite Shell Shield
Swift Maractite Boomerang

Maractite? it's a very special metal that doesn't have the same water resistance problems as other metals...and I don't mean rust proof. Whenever something moves underwater, the water "drags" against it and slows it down. Maractite somehow isn't slowed by water.

Collectable Sea Shells

The finest shells in all of Neopia come from Maraqua, of course.

Amazing! How does a shell take this shape?
This unusual coloured shell is quite rare you know.
Extremely delicate to handle. There are very few whole Pink Curly Shells around.
If you can prise it open, you may find a glistening pearl inside!
Faerie Wings Shell
Tangerine Trumpet Shell
Pink Curly Shell
Green Clam Shell

So just how DOES the Faerie Wings Shell get its shape? I wonder if we will ever know....

Maraquan Petpets

The *coolest* Petpets come from Maraqua. Get yours today and be the envy of all your Neofriends!

This unfortunately named Petpet has nothing to do with spinach or lime!
Made entirely from seaweed this Petpet is awfully slimy to touch.
A Nupie never changes expression, if it is happy or annoyed, it still just stares with its mouth agape. Quite freaky really.
These mischievious little critters like nothing better than playing tricks on their owners and other Petpets.

Darpinch

erm...a seaweed petpet? Not sure that's a good thing...

Old Maraqua was the fantastic undersea kingdom that served as the home of aquatic pets and petpets. It was formed by Transparishield Pods embedded within a rock formation on the ocean floor, covering an incredible 1,850 sq. miles. For a summary of it and it's destruction, click here.

If you look closely, you can make out some of the ruins as we pass...

At the lower left, you can make out some sort of strange formation...here is a picture a local diver brought back:
Strange statue?

There are some interesting pictures from Maraqua on the Coloring Pages. Add a splash of color to these watery scenes and display them proudly. Here are a few samples of what you may print out and color:

The "Bubbling Pit" is a strange pit, a very very deep pit, from which hundreds of thousands of strange little coloured bubbles are emerging. Nobody has any idea what this hole in the sea floor is, or what it does, but we think it may have something to do with these strange Maraquan Neopets that have been recently spotted...it should be interesting to see if they will rebuild Maraqua.

Underwater Fishing in the Maraquan Ruins

Welcome to the underwater fishing cavern! This trapped air pocket has created an underwater lake with all kinds of strange and wondrous sea creatures, as well as some... other interesting things. Take a place on the jetty and start fishing!

You can fish once a day.

Further exploration these days is often hampered by a giant cranky slugaroo:

Oh dear! JC is looking a little ill. Let's move on, shall we?

I hate boats
