Because I was unavailable over August and September, lots of areas needed to be updated. Much of that is now finished.
The avatars section of the FAQs has been updated.
BrightVale has been added to the Meridell portion of the Tour.
The Tour pages have been updated to show the new maps and ever-increasing product placement areas.
The Game Reviews page has been updated to include all the new product placement games.
Work continues on the upcoming museum. This project is rather large, but at least you can get a quick look at it here. Note that these pages are still very much under construction. If you have anything you’d like to contribute, please send it to: Naomi_Tran@baylor.edu

Considering the spookiness of the month, it seemed only fitting that we feature a spooky game. This time, we’ve chosen Mutant Graveyard of Doom.
In this game, you play Albert the Kacheek, and your job is to enter the Mutant Graveyard of Doom and collect enough food to feed the Esophagor. Watch out for the Ghostkerchiefs, walking gravestones, and of course the hideous tentacled eyeball beast.
As you know, this game was moved to the Game Graveyard earlier this year. That means you cannot earn any points for this game. You can still earn this avatar, though:
| |
You must score 1250 or more in Mutant Graveyard of Doom. Note: The game itself is in the Game Graveyard, but you can still earn the avatar. |
Shown above is the RULES page. It is important to note the point values for the foods you need to collect. You’ll want to have a strategy when each level loads so that you can get the most points or clear one area at a time. Remember, you are racing against the clock…
The Walking Tombstones can be tricky if you don’t wait for them to return to stone before you approach them. Take your time and be patient.
Ghostkerchiefs are evil and can float over tombstones. That means they can follow you anywhere.
As a rule, the eyeball beast is fairly easy to avoid. Just wait for his tentacle to appear and get out of its way. The monster itself is stationary, so it will only affect the center area.
If a monster touches you, you loose a life and will not get the time bonus at the end of the level. This may be worth it, however, if a high point food is surrounded or close to several monsters. Move quickly while you are shaded purple from a monster’s death touch, and as long as you are purple, other monsters cannot hurt you.
Since you are not playing for neopoints, you may want to skip the earlier levels and move on to higher point food items. To skip the current level, press the space bar and Tab key at the same time. Remember that the higher the level, the faster the monsters.

Mysteries of Jelly World explained. Jelly World? That's just a myth. It doesn't exist…
Like the mysterious white WeeWoo, Jelly World is something of a well known “secret” that almost all Neopians know and joke about. If you have somehow missed it, let’s get you caught up so you can join the fun.
This area became available on September 18, 2002 for those players who could find it. From the very beginning, Neopets official stance is that it “doesn’t exist…nod, nod, wink, wink”. In fact, it was the first “mini world” Neopets created.
Many players stumbled onto (or should that be INto?) this area when the Jelly Food shop opened. By typing in the name of a food sold there, they could use the “Go to shop” option and there they discovered a link back to this mini world.
Next, let’s talk about the Giant Jelly… Sitting in the middle of Jelly World is a gigantic jelly... and you know what this means - yes, FREE JELLY for everybody who visits it!
If your Neopet is hungry, why not grab a spoon and take some yummy jelly to eat. You can pick up one free jelly each day and each jelly is good for two meals. Is your pet tired of omelettes? Drop by for a quick treat.
While exploring Jelly World, you will find the remains of another giant jelly…this one is green. This is all that remains from an old story line. On June 12, 2003, many petpets disappeared (including JC’s pet Jinjah, Giggler).
| |
|
| Giggler the Jinjah is missing! |
Waaah... where hasGiggler gone??? |
And it looked like Sloth was up to his old tricks again. There was a report of a shady character boarding a shuttle heading towards the Virtupets Space Station.
(June 17, 2003)
It seems that they were actually pigging out rather than “stolen”:
They were finally returned on June 23, 2003. From the news page: Wow - it seems all the petpets that were missing have returned to their owners. I wonder where they went... it's a shame that they can't talk :( One thing is for sure, they all seem VERY happy! As you can see…they really enjoyed that Green Jelly in Jelly World:
Then, of course, there is the fun you can have with “Jelly World” on the NeoBoards. Any time the phrase “Jelly World” is used on a chat board, it mysteriously changes to another random area in Neopia. This could be Tyrannia, Haunted Woods, Faerieland, etc. Some players have taken advantage of this to have a little fun with their NeoSignatures or Default NeoHTML.
While we are on the subject of NeoBoards, did you know that there is a hidden board for this area? The Jelly World NeoBoard is at http://www.neopets.com/neoboards/boardlist.phtml?board=18 or click here to pay it a visit.
Last, but not least: How do you create a thread on a message board that “doesn’t exist”? While it is easy to respond to something already posted, creating your own involves a little more work.
First, go to the Create Topic page. You will notice that there is no option for “Jelly World” in the drop down menu.
Replace the url ( http://www.neopets.com/neoboards/create_topic.phtml?board=18 ) with this code
javascript:alert(document.forms[2].board_id.options[document.forms[2].board_id.options.length]=new
Option("Jelly World","18"))
and hit enter. An error message will pop up, but you can simply ignore it. You will now have the option for Jelly World on at the bottom of the drop down menu. You can now create a new message.
Now that you know about one of the best known “secrets” of Neopia, you can join in the fun of Jelly World …but that’s just a myth, right?
As always, play safe and have fun!

Name: Chilled Eyeball Custard
Available: From the Spooky Food Shop
Neopet’s Description:
A lovely thick custard with special spooky ingredients.
TNE’s Description:
May look a little gross, but still tastes great.
Ingredients:
· 8 oz Frozen whipped topping; -thawed
· Blueberries or raisins (for pupils in the “eyes”)
· 1 1/2 c Boiling water
· 1 lg Pkg gelatin - any green flavor
· 1 c Cold water
· Ice cubes
· Ginger Ale (optional)
Directions:
Using a small ice-cream scoop or a melon baller, place scoops whipped topping on to a cookie sheet.
Do not allow them to touch. These will form the main part of the “eyes”.
Place a blueberry or raisin in each scoop for the "pupils”. Freeze 30 minutes, or until firm.
Meanwhile, stir boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least two minutes until completely dissolved.
Mix cold water and ice cubes to make 2-1/2 cups. Add gelatin, stirring until slightly thickened.
Remove any remaining ice. You can allow it to set up slightly, but do not wait until fully set.
Add two to four "eyeballs" to a decorative glass and pour about 1/2 cup gelatin around them. Add Ginger Ale if desired and top with more whipped topping.
