Neopets has fixed Deckball so it now gives you Neopoints and there is a high score table. (October 1, 2002)

Neopets has released a new area. It seems that deep within the Haunted Woods there is a Deserted Fairground. There you can find a shop selling rather powerful Haunted Weaponry, as well as the Spooky Food shop and Spooky Furniture shop. It looks like they plan to add a few more goodies, too. It's not officially opened yet, but the Wheel of Misfortune can also be found there.(October 31, 2002)
Neopets has changed the way that Random Events work, so you will find them in a lot more places now, and hopefully a lot more often. There is a new random event where Illusen will appear and set your Neopoints back up to 5,000 if it is below that level. In another new random event, Meuka will turn up, eat one of your food items, and replace it with a yummy lump of snot! (October 31, 2002)

It’s been a busy month for pet changes at Neopets. In addition to the usual new additions, lots of the Halloween pets got an update. Neopets also released a new paint brush: Ghost.

q Neopets has decided that some of the Spooky Petpets needed makeovers and released some updated versions. (October 13, 2002)
q You can now paint your Snomorgs and Meowclops at the Petpet Puddle. (October 14, 2002)
q Neopets fixed a few bugs in the Petpet Puddle that kept you from painting certain Flizzardos or Karrens; it should work fine now. (October 14, 2002)
q Pwerkos and Goulblees can now be painted many different colours at the Petpet Puddle. (October 16, 2002)
q Abominable Snowballs finally get added to the painted petpets. You can now paint it Purple, Robot, Blue or Yellow. (October 18, 2002)
q Neopets has decided to make an exception with the new Spooky Petpets that were just added. They replaced retired petpets, but just for October Neopets brought them out of retirement so more people have a chance to get hold of a Meowclops, Goulblee, Snormorg or Pwerko. (October 18, 2002)
q Some more new Spooky Petpets have replaced some of the less popular petpets. (October 21, 2002)
q If you are lucky enough to own a Sludgy, you can now paint it lots of pretty colours, including Pink and Green at the Petpet Puddle.
q Bearogs now come in a wide range of interesting colours, including RED, Green, Cloud, and Pink. (October 24, 2002)

‘Tis the Season: Gift Giving in Neopia
Even though December seems far away, this is the time of year when many people begin planning. As the holiday season approaches, the question of gift giving arises. Even in Neopia, the holiday spirit abounds:
The Advent Calendar This is a special area only available in the Month of Celebrating or December. Each day a free prize is awarded for dropping by. Everyone gets the same thing, so anything like the Lu Codestone that was given away last year will drop in value because of the overabundance. As with all the other “freebies” on the site, Do not use more than one account per person to claim the prizes. This is against the rules, and people who cheat will have their accounts frozen.
Special Features Because of the popularity of the holiday season, Neopets often has special holiday features in the Art Gallery, Neopian Times, Caption Contest, etc. There will also probably be Christmas paint brush makeovers and additions for both pets and petpets.
"Holiday Cards/Messages" Neopets offers a wide range of fun electronic cards for the holidays. For those of you who love sending e-cards for the holidays, be sure to check out these fun little items:

Most popular time for Gift Giving December 25th is the "Big Day" in Neopia for exchanging gifts. The Neopian Calendar calls this the “Day of Giving”. Etiquette states that even though you are not required to give a gift to someone, you are obligated to thank each person who gives something to you. If possible, however, I like to at least send a token gift in return.
Deciding on gifts If you do choose to give someone a gift, remember
that they may or may not choose to send something in return. By definition,
a gift is something given freely. Unless
you are incredibly rich, set aside a few days worth of np to buy gifts. Do
not give someone else a gift that was given to you. Neopia has no
"fruitcake" so let's keep it that way. (For those of you who don't
know, I'm referring to the joke of there only being one fruitcake that is eternally
passed around at Christmas...not an actual fruitcake item.) In my personal opinion,
gifts should be given to each neofriend, even if it is only a token. Even
cheap items are a nice way to let someone know you are thinking about him/her.
You will probably want to buy something nicer for those you are closer to or
have known longer, but do not drain your savings. If you plan on gift
giving, now would be a great time to stock up. Prices will rise as demand increases.
Here are some holiday themed items you may want to consider, if you don't want
to "personalize" your list for each of your friends

Throughout Neopia are special Battledome Challengers. While some are automatically available, most must be found. Rather than take the time to do a guide for each oponent, here is a list of all known oponents at this time and staggpub will update them as new ones are found. Be sure to equip your pet before starting.
