Changes and Updates A time of reflection

From time to time, it is important to look back and reevaluate. Neopets is always changing, so what was true yesterday may not be true today or even exist tomorrow. The same is true with any help/fan site devoted to Neopets. For anyone actually taking the time to read this, there are a few things I would greatly like to get feedback on:

О        Should we redo the newsletter format?

О        Should we redo the signup format for the newsletter?

О        Should more user submissions be used?

О        Should outside help be requested?

О        Should we have “affiliates” or “sister sites”?

О        Should updates be more frequent, even if it’s just a note on the What’s New section saying there isn’t anything noteworthy for today?

О        Should certain areas of the site be reworked?

О        Should we bring back a graphic free version of the site?

At this time, I am looking for ways to totally rework the site (if necessary) to make it the best help site I can possibly create…but it will only be as good as the feedback I get. Please keep in mind that the more information you provide, the better the site can become.  Obviously, a simple “yes” or “no” will not help me with “how” or “why.”

Also, if you have any ideas that you think will improve the site that are not listed above, don’t keep it to yourself. Send me as much information about it as you can.

As always, this information ( and any constructive criticism) may be sent by using the automatic comment form.

Featured Game: Scarab 21

Have a guide you'd like to see here? Send it to: Naomi_Tran@baylor.edu

Goal: Play the cards in any of the five columns in order to get the column's sum to be 21. Improve your score by finding hidden bonus plays.

You can win 2 different types of trophies from Scarab 21 - one from the Overall Hi-Score Table and the other trophy is for the Single Game Hi-Score Table.

Cost:  50 NP per game

NOTE: There is a daily limit of 5000 Neopoints, although you can continue to play for free throughout the rest of the day once you have reached that limit. Although you will not be rewarded any Neopoints for the free games, the score you receive will still be added to your High Score.

  1. Along the left side of the game board, you will see three main sections. The first section along the top is the Game Stats section. This contains all of the information regarding your current and overall game records. The next section is the Scoring Chart section, which contains the payoff information for some of the common combinations you can have (although there are many others that you must find on your own). The third section simply shows the card deck information. The card on the right is the current card that you must play.
  2. The object of the game is to play the current face up card into one of the five columns in order to get that column's sum to equal 21. By doing so, the column is cleared and you can continue to make plays in order to get more points. You cannot, however, play a card into a column if it would cause the sum to be more than 21!
  3. The game will continue until you have a situation where you cannot play your current face up card into any of the columns. For example: Say your current face up card is a King, and the sum of all five columns is over 11, then you would not have any place to play the King, so the game is over! Once the game is over, click on the "Collect Points" link to get your points. This will update your total scores and game records.
  4. There are many special moves that you must find on your own, and they are well worth it. While some only offer points (although quite a few points), other special plays will clear all of your columns, which extends the game and allows you to score even more points!

    These moves are:

    2 Black Jacks in a Row - 50 Points
    Super Black Jack (
Jack of Spades and Ace of Spades) - 50 Points
    5 Of Kind - 100 Points
    Column totals reading 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 - 100 Points
    Column totals reading 20, 19, 18, 17, 16 - 100 Points
All of a kind (same amount in each column) - Clears board
    Full house (6,6,3,3,3 or 5,5,5,3,3) - 200 Points

Neopets: Help for All

I stumbled on this site purely by chance. I think it's a new site, but I'm not sure. I think it may be a guild web page, but the information on it is not limited to a guild and is very well done.

It has a very user friendly layout, complete with premade user profiles. Of course, my favorite feature is there: No annoying popups!
