You have your villain posters and your collection of evil plushies, but you really want to draw something evil... maybe a MSPP? Why not learn How to Draw it? (June 16, 2006)

From the news page concerning weekend quirkiness: If you noticed a few quirks with with the site over the weekend, they have been fixed! Anything "stuck" in auctions should process shortly once the auctioneer catches up with the backlog. (For you tech savvy folks, several of our cron jobs weren't running, which is why things like auctions were working smoothly but not processing on schedule. Cronjobbia has been severly reprimanded for her slacking.) (June 20, 2006)

Yes, it's finally here. A brand new Explore Map! Now is your chance to see the other side of Neopia, and we have a feeling much more will be revealed very, very soon. (June 24, 2006)

If you notice the Shop Wizard and the Auction Genie looking a bit different than usual, they've just had a bit of an art update. (June 27, 2006)

Be among the first Neopians to explore the new Lutari Island and adopt a Lutari Neopet! Click here to find out more. (Even if you can't explore the Island just yet, 10,000 more Lutari will also be released over the next 24 hours so you can adopt one of your own!) (June 28, 2006)

Special Days for these months were:

As with all good help sites, the pages on the Neopian Educator are always under construction. Suggestions and constructive criticism are always welcome. Simply fill out the automatic comment form.

As you probably expected, the Avatars and Game Reviews pages have been updated.

The Defenders of Neopia guide has been updated to include the new series.

The Great Free Stuff page has been updated to include the Survey Shack.

I added a few more items to the FAQ's section.

Plans are underway to go ahead and update the Tour pages, but the new world map is complicating a few things.

Work continues on the upcoming museum. This project is rather large, but at least you can get a quick look at it here. One of the most recent additions is the archive for this year’s April Fools Day fun. Note that these pages are still very much under construction. If you have anything you’d like to contribute, please send it to: Naomi_Tran@baylor.edu

I have decided to add a crafts section to the What To Do When Neopets is Down page. If you have any patterns you’d like to contribute, please send it to: Naomi_Tran@baylor.edu If your craft is posted, you will receive credit for it, so be sure to include your username.

Freaky Factory

Neopets - Freaky Factory

Freaky Factory

Neopians have been playing with cute little figurines for ages, completely oblivious of the dark secrets behind their production...

In this game you play a factory worker employed by Krelufun Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of Virtupets, Inc (the corporate arm of Dr. Sloth's empire.) It's nearing the end of the quarter, and management have just sold a huge amount of little Neopet miniatures, much more than the factory could produce, but that's not their problem is it... oh no... and if that order cannot be fulfilled it's YOUR job on the line!

So it's your job to produce the miniatures. Over on the right hand side of the screen you will see what colour miniature you have to produce next. Blobs of liquid Kreludite scroll across the top of the screen. It is your job to make sure (by clicking on them with the mouse) that they fall into the correct vat. Red blobs go into the Red vat and so on.

Kreludite is a very unstable material, and prone to mutation. This is why you will see different blobs scroll across at less frequent intervals. Each one has a special effect, but you'll have to work them out for yourself. Lastly, watch out for the Grundo Thief, he'll try and steal from your production line, but you can click him to bump him on the head!

(Off the neopet site)

The table below shows how many points you will receive per toy

  1. Timer, when it gets to 12 again, its game over!
  2. Spillage counter (doesn’t reset after every level!)
  3. this box is showing what is next to be made (the number of squares filled in are how many units of that colour you will need)
  4. The ‘colour vats’ red goes in red, blue in blue and yellow in yellow (angel blob can go in any) NB if you over fill the vat the extra units will go into your spillage vat.
  5. consecutive timer (more expiation later)
  6. the number of toys to be made next (eg if there were 2 there would be 4 blue squares coloured in)
  7. the colour and sort of toy that will be made next (it is randomised)
  8. these red dots will turn green when you have two toys waiting in the tube (more expiation later)
  9. this is to turn the sound off and exit
  10.  this is where messages will appear during the game (eg.s later)
  11.  this is telling you how many toys you need to make before completing the level
  12.  this is your score (pic later)
  13.  this is where the blobs hang from (pics later)
  14.  this is the conveyer belt that the toys travel along (also where the thief appears)
  15.  This is the grundo thief. Hit him and he will duck down again

NB 10 hasn’t been working lately

The blobs

Get across

The bigger the blob, the more units it is. They range in size from 1-6.

Mutant blobs

These can help or hinder you.

Angel

White with a halo

Fills vat to top OR if it lands on a toy on the conveyer belt it gets bonus points

Frozen

Ice cube

Slows down the conveyer belt

Speedy

Purple with wings

Speeds up the conveyer belt

Cleaner

Bar of soap

Removes some of the spillage

Mutant

Evil grin

BAD don’t touch! It removes units from the VAT

Nova

Green and glowing

Upgrades all toys on the conveyer belt (eg primary to secondary) rainbow remain unchanged

Timer

Minnie clock

Gives you more time.

How to make toys

Click on the blobs to drop them into the vat (try to practice a few times as they keep moving forwards after you hit them, they don’t just drop straight down).

Make sure they go in the right coloured vats.

When you have enough units to make the next toy, the units will be removed from the vat and the next toy you need to make will appear.

The toy will appear on the conveyer belt and will move to the left. If you made 3 toys two of the red lights will turn green and when the first toy will have moved along the next toy will appear.

Keep doing this until you have made the required number of toys!

Next level

You will see a screen like this.

Note the break down of points? Keep making toys even if you have 5 in the que and only need 2.

Game over

This is the screen that will appear if you run out of time or reach the overflow limit. It will say why you lost. As well as the level you were on and your score.

Hints and tips!

Keep the vats as full as possible; this will earn you a consecutive bonus, which gets higher per toy!

Don’t hit the grundo thief until there are toys on the conveyer belt.

Don’t hit the frozen or mutant blobs or the nova if there are no toys to upgrade (this includes rainbow).

Try to upgrade as many toys as possible with the nova blob (4 is the most but three is easier)

Get the speedy, timer and cleaner blobs as often as you can.

If the blob is going too fast for you, DON’T hit it! (Unless it’s a speedy, cleaner or timer blob) this is a good way to have excess overflow.

If you have enough toys in the que, don’t stop making them! You get more points!

And last of all… Have fun!

This screen has a full overflow vat. Note that the blue vat was full even though the red and yellow were needed? Don’t ignore the vat/s you don’t need at that time, of the blobs come along, use them.

If you have any questions please email me at neo_pets39@hotmail.com

(Please note that I have an exclusive filter so it will end up in the junk mall folder but I tend to check my account every few days so I should still receive it. If you haven’t got a reply in a week please just resend it)

Featured Article:

Making a Million Despite a slow computer

Early this month, I received a comment that I found rather depressing. Part of it read:

It is impossible to become rich unless you can type moderately fast, have a fast internet connection and get semi-lucky.”

I’d like to take a moment to disagree. I sat down and ran some numbers and discovered that it is actually relatively easy to do if you think it through. In fact, all you need is a plan and the determination to stick with it. So if you have a slow computer, this article is for you.

First of all, let’s assume you have an older computer or slow connection. Almost any computer can run FLASH, which is important for building up your bank account. Of course, since the word “rich” has different meanings for different players, let’s start with your first million neopoints as a fairly safe definition.

Second, accept the fact that you will not become rich overnight with this plan. I cannot stress this enough. There are several scams designed specifically to trick players looking for the easy way out. Some of these include:

Pyramid Scams Occasionally you will find a shop, user profile, or neomail with the promise of a "secret way to earn lots of neopoints". They almost always include a phrase about being scammed before, so they know how it feels and would never scam anyone else. Don't believe them. Never send/buy items in exchange for information. It's never worth the price you pay.

Neositting/shop stocking For this scam, they will offer to take care of your shop and do your daily freebies while you are gone. Remember rule number one: Never give out your password to anyone. Never let anyone else into your account either. Account sharing can cost you your account and everything you’ve worked for. Missing a few days may put you behind schedule, but at least it will still be there when you get back.

NP/Item Generators These scammers will actually try to make you believe they have this magical program to put np in your bank account or items in your safety deposit box. There are NO np/item generators or "special codes".

Now that we have covered what DOESN’T work, let’s discuss what DOES.

Step one: Use those freebies!

You can have up to four pets. Each omelette is good for three meals. It is also fairly common to get free food from the Tombola, Fruit Machine, Coltzan’s Shrine, or Fishing. If Jelly World did exist (and of course, we all know it doesn’t…) then the free jelly would also feed a pet for two meals. That means you can feed even a full house for free with some left over…and that doesn’t even take into account the various sponsor freebies that pop up from time to time like 7-Eleven and Neopets® Islandberry Crunch.

Step two: Use those SPONSORS!

Speaking of sponsors, don’t overlook the many sponsor games. Many of them are specifically designed with slow connections/computers in mind. Remember, if you can’t play their game, they can’t reap the advertisement reward. They want their games to be played by everyone. With that in mind, they will often create games that will be turn based, which are perfect for our purposes.

Step three: Open a bank account

This may seem like a ‘no-brainer’, but any neopoints you are not going to use right away should be immediately placed in the bank. The interest you can earn really does add up. Not only will you collect interest, it will also give you a place to store your items in the Safety Deposit Box to keep them safe from random thefts from the Pants Devil or being reduced to a pile of sludge by Dr. Sloth.

Step four: Open a shop.

Random events will often drop items in your lap that you can sell. Food items, map pieces, codestones, etc. will help you reach your goal. You don’t have to have the largest shop on the block to make a profit, just be sure to use the Shop Wizard to set competitive prices. Since this article is mainly for players with older, slower computers, we won’t get into discussing restocking here.

Step five: Play the games.

Admittedly this is a definite no-brainer since that’s the whole point of the article, but I wanted to outline some of the games that do not require fast connections. The point is to have a plan and stick to it. When developing your own personal strategy, think of games that you enjoy and then narrow them down to games that have no time limit, are turn based, and/or use HTML. Any game using SHOCKWAVE should probably be avoided on older computers since it may cause it to crash. After seeing what is currently available, I suggest the following:

Using this plan, you can earn your first million in just a few months. Obviously, the sponsor games will change from time to time, but this should not be a serious problem. They can be replaced in your plan as that happens. The main point is to pick games that are turn-based, not timed or html based with fairly fast page loads.

Impossible? Not by a long shot…just a little more challenging. But isn’t that more or less the point of any game? Would you really want everything to be easy?

As always, play safe and have fun!
