Certain people are trying to convince me that the site needs
its own domain
what do you think?
Im still working on the tour, every time I think Ive
almost finished with an area, something gets added.
The game reviews,
bands, and books pages have been updated.
Even though the original newsletters for March and
April did
not have hyperlinks, the archived versions have links added to help with navigation.
Someone sent me a snippet of code for the Neopian calendar.
Ive temporarily placed it on the main page, but I noticed that there
is a © notice on it and Im trying to track down the creator for permission
to use it. If I cant find the owner (or cant get permission from
the owner) I will be taking it off. If you know anything about this, please
let me know.
New World, New War? Plots and plans
for new worlds in Neopia.
Almost every new world on Neopets was introduced by a special
storyline.
In August 2000, we were introduced to Mystery Island...just
in time for Sloth to create the Virtupets Space Station and try to take over Neopia
later that month. This was the first time that you had to have something special
to enter an area...without a Mystery Island Totem, you could not "hire"
a boat to get to the island.

In honor of the first Halloween on the site (Neopets was
started on the November 15, 1999) Neopets had several "spooky contests"
which were put together to form Halloween World (now known as Haunted Woods)
by the middle of October 2000. We were also sent on a quest to find Professor
Chester Chiapot (and the long lost BattleDome). While searching for the elusive
Professor, we are introduced to Chiazilla...and Maraqua. Not sure what Maraqua
is? Not surprising since it was destroyed almost a year ago
In November 2000, Neopets started on a Christmas/Winter themed
world since Halloween World was such a success. Later, it was changed from
"Winter World" to Happy Valley. Once more, in December, an area
was introduced that could only be accessed with a special item...you needed
an Ice Totem to enter the Ice Caves.

In January 2001, Neopets started work on Faerieland...which
did not have a storyline attached to it, but did require Faerie Totems to
be able to travel to it.

On March 20, 2001, a gigantic earthquake struck Neopia and
caused a huge chasm to form in the Ice Caves...leading to the prehistoric-themed
new world of Tyrannia. This time, there were no special items needed to access
all the areas. Neopets had a different plot in mind for this world: invasion.
Tyrannia was invaded shortly after its discovery (April 26,
2001). Brave Neopians rushed into battle in the Tyrannian Arena to fight the
thousands of prehistoric Korbat invaders who started to pillage and loot Tyrannia's
village, Tyrammet. We fought off the Korbats, then faced the Chia Bombers,
Fire Grarrls and harder invaders until the final showdown: Monoceraptor.
This boss was only defeated when everyone began fighting him.

On June 12, 2001, Brucy B won his first ever Cheat tournament...which
opened the plot
that that would introduce the Lost Desert. By the end of this storyline, Dr.
Sloth returned and released his armies to try to take over Neopia...again.
This time, the final boss was a super-tough Rock Beast who terrorized Sahkmet
along with the easier opponents like the Grundo Troopers, Mechanoid Warriors,
and Evil Sloth Clones.
August 17, 2001, was a partial introduction to
the pirate themed Krawk Island, which led to the destruction of Maraqua by
a whirlpool the next day. Neopets never finished the story, and had this to
say on November 2, 2001: KRAWK ISLAND UPDATE - Well, we did
mean to continue with the Krawk Island story and the destruction of Maraqua,
but unfortunately... erm... our server was uhhh... transformed into slime
by a band of pteris which... ummm.... was bad. Anyway, we have decided to
not continue with the story (we may do it at a later date we aren't sure yet),
but instead finish working on Krawk Island and start on the new world very
soon. There are two things left to go on the island, and they will go up soon,
but anyway, sorry about the change of plan and we hope you enjoy what we have
planned for the coming months.
With the arrival of the new world, Neopets has announced plans for another war. The plot line that we've seen so far indicates that there may have a "neoquest" themed war for Meridell. The Tyrannian Invasion more or less set the path for wars in Neopia. What basically happens is that invaders will arrive in "waves" starting at fairly easy and ending with the Killer Boss. For a short time, Neopia will be united against the common enemy (even BDers and NCers will declare a shaky "truce", believe it or not.) and everyone seems to want to help. Almost everything is suspended and put on hold until the battles are over. Those who battle are given trophies...the more battles you win, the better the trophy.
Whatever happens, though, it will be nice to have a new world to conquer.
