Neopian Educator now has it’s own domain name at: http://www.neopianeducator.com and is being reworked and switched over to the new site. Many of these pages will be left on the Baylor University servers and will serve as a “mirror site”… at least until we can get everything switched over properly.
We are hoping to be able to offer Neopets merchandise for those of you who do not have a Limited Too or Clare’s in your area.
Upon reformatting the newsletter address list, I discovered some of you were listed more than once. My apologies for the duplications and any trouble it may have caused. Hopefully the duplicates have been removed, but if I missed one (or deleted yours), please drop me a line so that you do not receive multiple newsletter copies in the future.

New Year’s Resolution: So you wanna be a NeoMillionaire
As the year draws to a close, many Neopians are making New Year’s Resolution…most of which they will break before the 2nd day is out. One of the most popular resolutions is to become a NeoMillionaire. To many, it’s just a dream, but making neopoints has never been easier. This year, make a plan and keep your resolution. Anyone can make a million or more neopoints in under a year, so why shouldn’t you?

First, we’ll need to see how much time we have. Assuming the worst, you will start off with a bank account of zero neopoints (You do have a bank account, right? If not, get one now…it’s very important.). That means you have about 52 weeks to make one million neopoints. Since you’ll probably go on a vacation or be away for some of that time, let’s round down to 50 weeks. That breaks down to 20,000 neopoints a week. Keeping the “worst case scenario” in mind, let’s say you can only log on for 5 days each week. That breaks down to 4,000 neopoints a day. Yes, you can double check that…you really do only need to save 4,000 neopoints each day to have one million neopoints by the end of the year. Sounds like a lot? Not really…read on.
Keep in mind that you can use the Giant Omelette in Tyrannia to keep your pet fed if you do not make more than your 4000np goal for the day. Most days, however, it should be easy to make enough to buy food for your pet in addition to the 4000 you need to save. A petpet can also keep your pet entertained, in case you do not have as much time to play with your pet some days.
When you log on each day, be sure to collect your interest at the bank. At first, it doesn’t seem like much, but every bit helps…and why turn down free neopoints? Speaking of “free”, don’t overlook all the free stuff around the site in addition to the Giant Omelette. These include Tombola, The Neopet Fruit Machine, and Coltzan's Shrine.

The next step is to determine which types of games you like to play, and then plan on maxing out your points on those games when you first log on each day. If you like card games, you can average a gain of at least 100 np per game of Pyramids (My average is 150 for a bad game, and it costs 50 np to play). It is possible to earn up to 5000np per day just on that game. If you like shooters and arcade style games, you may be interested in Pterattack. You can earn up to 1000np per game and can play 3 times each day. Even with a slow computer, you should be able to max out those points in less than half an hour. Don’t forget about the quick np makers like Meerca Chase and Kiko Match II…these can add to your total quite nicely. Focus on games you like to play, or you will not be able to keep up with your goal. Remember, the point is to have fun while you earn. Keep track of the games you are good at and play them first. Some people suggest saving your favorites for last, but I’ve come to this conclusion: If you save them for later, you might not have time for them.
Here’s a quick summary of the plan. For the sake of discussion, I’ve used non product-placement games (which stay on the site longer) that I’m either fairly good at or enjoy playing. You should keep up with the ones you are either fairly good at or enjoy playing:
Yearly Goal: 1,000,000 neopoints
Daily Goal: 4,000 neopoints
Game Plan:
|
Game |
Neopoints earned |
|
Daily Interest (from the bank) |
(Varies depending on account level) |
|
Awards from Dailies |
(Varies depending on luck) |
|
3,000 |
|
|
0750 (Click here for walkthrough) |
|
|
1,000 (even on a bad day) |
|
|
1,000 (even on a bad day) |
|
|
Daily Total (should at least be 4,000np) |
5,750 |
The chart above is just a quick sample. See how easy it is to earn the neopoints you need?
Once you have earned your goal of 4000np for the day, deposit it in your bank account. Do NOT spend any of this. Play more games or use what you make from your shop to get the neopoints you need to take care of your pet. With all the games available, it has never been easier to earn neopoints. As you can see from the table above, I still have an extra 1750np to spend on food, toys, books, or whatever else I need for my pet aisha, JC (jenny945)

One last piece of advice: there are no “get rich quick” plans, np/item generators, magical “secrets” or shortcuts to becoming a neomillionaire. At best, these scams will cost neopoints rather than making them…at worst, it can cost you your account.
Play safe and have fun!

Featured Game: Faerie Crossword
Have a guide you'd like to see here? Send it to: Naomi_Tran@baylor.edu
While normally this feature is submitted by one of the readers, this month is a little different. Recently many of the comments have requested more information on the Faerie Crossword, so December's game of the month will spotlight it, and the featured site will be dedicated to the best site for it.
In short, it works like any other crossword you may have played before. Words always go from left-to-right, or up-to-down and must be filled in one letter at a time. You can fill in words by clicking on the clue at the bottom, then typing in a word above it and clicking "Go". If you put in the wrong word, you can put another one in the same place: just click the clue again, and type in a new word, then click "Go" again. Use the clues provided and try to fill them in as quickly as possible. In neopets, the fatster you solve them, the better your prize.
Crossword lovers may not want to see the answers to the puzzle beforehand, but those players who want to earn some quick neopoints or new players who may not be very familiar with the site (and where to find the answers) may want to find an online site that posts the answers as close to 12:00 a.m. NST (when the new daily puzzle is posted) as possible. Because of the average update time for TNE, this would not be a good site to host the crossword answers. There are many other sites, however, that post them fairly early in the Neopian day. Be sure to check out the Featured Site to read about one of them.
