Featured Site- Grephun’s Scam Warnings
April Fools Day had one of Neopets’ greatest pranks ever. They set it up to look like the Pants Devil had stolen everything from users inventories and safety deposit boxes. While I thought this was absolutely hilarious, many people on the chats were up in arms.
Neopets had to disable OBJECT tags from being used in the HTML areas of the site as a certain few users were abusing them. (April 10, 2002)
The Help Page received a much-needed
update. (April 25, 2002)
Searches on the Shop Wizard have been limited to 60 per hour. (April 29, 2002)
Many pets celebrated their “special day” this month:
There were several changes in the games area. Not only were many of them reclassified, many old ones were removed and a few new ones were added:
Ø The game, Guess the Card, now boasts 10x the points - yes win up to 50 Neopoints each time you choose the correct card. (April 2, 2002)
Ø OMELETTE DEFENDER was introduced. (April 2, 2002)
Ø Lenny Trivia was removed from the site. According to Neopets, it was just becoming too hard to keep all the questions up to date. Since they change the site so often, all the questions on the Trivia had the wrong answers. (April 5, 2002)
Ø The most recent new game, Dr. Sloth's Carnival of Terror... I like it, but I’m not any good at it… (April 24, 2002)
Several
new articles were added to the Neopedia:
There were
quite a few paint brush and potion options added to the site this month.

outdone, there were also several petpet paintbrush and potion options added

For about a week, I did not have access to my computer. That
meant I had a lot of catching up to do when I finally was able to update my
site. I appreciated everyone’s patience while I got everything back on track.
There were lots of changes to the games, so the Game Reviews underwent
quite a few changes to reflect that.
Originally, I had planned on updating some of my help pages,
especially the Books page, but with the Neopets
site having so much trouble, I haven’t been able to get to the information I
need.
In addition to the standard chat emoticons that Neopets has used
from almost the beginning, you can now spice up your comments with the new NeoHTML
codes. Neopets has already set up most of the code for those who may not be
familiar with standard HTML. NeoHTML works almost identically to Word documents.
As with standard HTML, you use "tags" to tell the
computer what you want it to do. The format is roughly "opening tag"
My stuff here "closing tag". For NeoHTML, these tags are already set
up for you; all you have to do is replace the word "text", or specify
what type, size, and color of font you want.
We'll start with a text replacement, first. Let's say you
want to emphasize the word "great" in the following: "You won
a new petpet at Tombola? That's great news!" Here is what you would do:
1. Type: You won a new petpet at Tombola? That's
2. Click on the green "B" button just above the
message box. You will see TEXT appear in the message box. Replace the
word TEXT with the word/phrase you want to be in bold letters. In this case,
you would use "great". It should look like this: great
3. Finish your phrase. This works for green B (bold), I (italic),
U (underline), G (glowing) and S (Shadowed) buttons as well as the yellow "sup"
(superscript) and "sub" (subscript) buttons.
Now let's talk about changing font. To change the font, click
the purple "F" button. You should see this: TEXT
The "c=black" portion means that the color of your letters will be
black; "s=3" indicates how big your letters will be; "f=arial"
means that the actual font style will look like the arial font in a Word document.
When you have time, you may want to play around with a few phrases in Word just
to see how different fonts look. As you can see, it's almost as simple as typing
a Word document.
Finally, we get to the important part…signatures. I’m sure
many of you have seen them on the chats already.

Never a dull moment... ~Ordered Chaos~ |
|
My signature, ~Ordered Chaos~, and the blue font are part
of my default NeoHTML. To program your own signature, go to the main chat page. There is a box under your chat profile named:
Default neoHTML. In my case, I typed in the following:
neoHTML [sub]~Ordered Chaos~[/sub] As long as I don’t
use any other neoHTML, my messages will be blue, size two, Batang font
with the ~Ordered Chaos~ signature.
With these new options, everyone can now personalize their
messages. Have fun!
TNE Teacher’s Pet Award
This month’s award goes to Grephun’s Scam Warnings. This is a great (and colorful) page
that gives a fairly detailed description of some of the most common scams. He
has also been testing some battledome items and has listed some helpful information
about them.
