Having taught myself to read by the age of three, stories have
always been important to me...I've never been able to resist a new
story or new story teller. While working in New Mexico, I not only
was given my nickname but also discovered a new hobby: Faerie Tales.
Don't laugh...I'm serious. Each culture has its own wealth of myths,
legends, and fables but if you look closely, they often closely
match stories from sister cultures. So I started collecting, analyzing,
and generally enjoying them. After graduating college, I took a
temporary security job working the graveyard shift. It gave me plenty
of time to follow up on researching my hobby.
My research took an unexpected twist when I was on a discussion
board trying to defend a friend (who was working on a comparison
of the Eros/Psyche story with the Beauty and the Beast faerie tale)
against a particularly annoying board troll. Another user logged
on, watched for a few minutes, and started in on the troll with
such dry sarcastic wit that I thought my computer would crash. It
was absolutely wonderful to watch. You could almost see the troll
squirming as he typed a hasty escape. 'Dragon' stayed online a few
more minutes and we struck up a nice chat and swapped a few of our
favorite stories. He even offered my friend a few tips on her dissertation.
We chatted off and on for a few more months when he suggested contacting
someone in New Orleans. Since I have family there on my father's
side, I set up a visit.
What I hadn't planned on was that this little visit was going to
get me in over my head. I met with Dr. Alexander and his half-brother,
who seemed oddly peeved that my friend's dissertation equated Eros
to the beast, but while we were debating (ok...arguing...),

and am now the Night/Weekend manager at a local university library.
Or at least, that's my 'cover' job. That makes me the resident Central
Texas researcher/archivist. Mainly I hunt info for the Houston,
San Antonio and Austin Dark Hunters, but there seems to be a lot
of growth in the Temple/Killeen area recently. Maybe the Austin
DH's will need some extra help. Too bad I don't know any of them
well enough to ask. I'll need to pick Kell's brain next time his
band tours up this way and see if he thinks we should keep an eye
on it. Just because I'm an archivist doesn't mean I want the Oracles
to get involved. Would it kill them to answer my research questions
with something other than a riddle? A simple yes or no? Up? Down?
Sideways?
I have been temporarily relocated to New Orleans for my current
assignment. If I'm not at workat the library or helping out in The
Heavenly Drop coffee shop, then I'm probably at home
trying to keep a couple of Weres and a handfull of Squires in line.
Not as easy as it sounds.
As you can see from that sketch, one of them is quite an artist...and
aparently my introduction to him via a life guard pole made quite
an impression....
I'm currently assigned to special projects with Shame.
It's a good match since she's much more of a 'people person' than
I am. It's almost uncanny how total strangers just open up to her.
I am still able to keep Polarized
up to date with my assignment, even when he is called away for other
duties. Good thing he's a squire too, or I'd have a hard time explaining
all of this.
Claire,
one of the other Squires, and her mate Devin have recently had two
lovely twins, Asane and Aidan...guess I better go make sure the
food supplies are well stocked.
