Why is your site named "The Neopian Educator"?
When I first started a help site, it was located on the server at Baylor University (where I work). Since it became boring to call it "my help site" over and over, I wanted to come up with a name that suited its location...especially as page views increased. After a lot of thought, I decided on The Neopian Educator because of my university affiliation and the fact that the purpose of the site was to educate/help my fellow Neopets fans.
Are you Neopets staff?
Unfortunately, no. To become a member of the Neopets staff, you must live in the Los Angeles, CA area. I live a couple of states to the east. I would happily relocate to that area if I could get a full time position with Neopets, but at this time, there is no connection. TNE is simply one fan's help site. There is no other connection between Neopets.com and The Neopian Educator.
Because I am not staff, I cannot speed up Neopets updates, unfreeze accounts, create new neopets areas/items/merchandise, or any other of the many requests I have received. I don't have any more influence than you do, I just spend (probably) more time on the site. All I can do is answer questions and provide hints/tips to make your visit to Neopia more fun.
Do you know any Neopets staff?
Like many users, I know of staff members and can list several. I do not have any connection to any Neopets staff member, however.
What are the Newbie Guardians?
The Newbie Guardians were formed in 2000 as a group of friends on the Newbie Chat. They answered questions, offered tips, and warned against scams. Basically, the wanted to help and protect Newbies until they learned their way around Neopia. They are not a guild or official group. They are simply a group of people dedicated to helping others.
As scammers increased in both number and viciousness, we banned together to support each other against false accusations and impersonators. Sometimes, we were successful, but sometimes we were not.
How do I join the Newbie Guardians?
Newbie Guardians are selected based on how helpful they appear on the Newbie Chat. It is by invitation only and I am the one who decides who to invite.

What does not impress me?
Why haven't you added me to the Newbie Guardians?
And you are...?
If I see you around and helping out enough, I will ask to add you to the Newbie Guardians. Nobody is added without his/her permission. If I haven't asked, you will not be added. Asking me to be added is not likely to help. To be considered, you must spend time helping on the Newbie Chat. No offense meant to those of you on the Help Chat...
What guild are you in?

Glorieta's Dysfunctional Family Tree
A friend and I used to work at Glorieta Conference Center in New Mexico and it was a very random place. There were a group of us who created a "family tree" based on how long people had worked there and who usually did things with each other. We decided to carry it on as a guild because some memories just shouldn't be forgotten. (If for no other reason than to look back and say: What were we thinking? We must have been insane!)
Despite what some people think, it is not a scam hunting guild. In fact, it's not any specific type of guild at all. Many of the members joined just so they had a reason to not join another guild...some people don't take "no" for an answer. We're fairly small and not very active, but that is by design. Members are allowed to be as active or inactive as they choose.
If you're looking for a guild with friendly (but random) people, feel free to drop by and take a peek. If you're looking for a guild that bribes its members to stay or recruit others, you'll want to skip this one.
What is your username?
I chose that name because of my father's small publishing company. Books have always played a large part of my life, so it seemed natural to pick a username honoring that. In fact, I'm even doing some role playing with some friends on one author's fan site. I'm a big fan of the Dark Hunter series, particularly the Were Hunter stories.
If you want to know more about me, why not drop by my About Me page?
What is your pet's name?
Although her full name is Jenny945, I usually think of her and refer to her as "JC". She's named after one of my best friends but her personality is quite a bit different from her namesake.
She was painted "Lost Desert" before that paint brush was retired. She wouldn't be for sale even if you were allowed to sell/trade pets, so don't ask. (Yes I periodically get offers for her.) I've put a lot of time and effort into not only building up her stats but more importantly, developing a personality just for her. If you drop by the Newbie Chat from time to time, you may have a chance to see what I mean...
JC is the "mascot" for this site. You'll see her on the portal page, some of the tip pages, and all of the Tour pages.
This is JC...Boochie, stay away from this pet!
The TNE Report Card is the Neopian Educator's monthly newsletter. It keeps track of things that have happened over the last month and (unlike the Neopets sites) can be searched using multiple words and phrases to make it easier to find information.
In addition to news and events, it generally includes a featured article, a featured game with game guide, featured site, and a recipe for one of the foods you can find on the Neopets site.
From time to time, additional features will be included if users request it.

How do I subscribe to the TNE Report Card?

You can subscribe by using the Comment form. If you include your e-mail address rather than the default, I will add you to the list.

How do I unsubscribe to the TNE Report Card?

If you no longer wish to recieve the newsletter, signed up for it accidentally, or someone else signed up using your e-mail address, simply reply to the newsletter with "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the subject line and I'll remove you from the list.
If you recieved this newsletter, then you or someone using your email address requested it. Please do not flame me if you have changed your mind.
I'm pretty sure I subscribed to the TNE Report Card, but I never receive your
newsletter.

This may be caused by a few different things.
If your e-mail does not support embedded images it will sometimes bounce back.
If your settings have blocked me as spam or you accept only from certain addresses it will bounce back.
There is a small chance that I overlooked your request if your comment was somehow filtered by my spam blocking software. (Note that I do watch for that, but I've found that once in a while one does get lost there.)
To ensure that you get the newsletter, set Naomi_Tran@baylor.edu as an accepted sender (friend, safe sender, or whatever your email system calls it). You may need to re-subscribe here since I remove all addresses that returns the email.
