When do Shops stock?
All official Neopian shops (not player's own shops) restock at random every minute. If you go to a shop, try going back in a few minutes time and there should be items.
What is Half Price Day?
Like the name implies, prices in shops are dropped to half of what they normally are. This only happens in the main shops like the Food Shop. The Hidden Tower and user shops are not changed.
When is Half Price Day?
To celebrate the third day in every month, the Neopian shops have a half price sale. Put it in your calendar so you don't miss out :)
What does haggle mean?
Haggling is when you try to get a better price for an item by talking to the shopkeeper. You need to offer an amount less than the shopkeeper wants and he will try to get you to raise your price. The aim is to meet somewhere in the middle on a price that both you and the shopkeeper will accept.
Bear in mind if your offer is too ridiculously low the shopkeeper may be insulted and throw you out of his shop.
What is a restock ban?
Restock bans happen when a user refreshes too many times in a shop. It is mainly aimed at 'restockers' who wait in shops to grab items quickly at every shop restock in the hopes of reselling them to make a huge profit.
You will only be restock banned for the main shops. User shops will not be affected.
Why is there a restock ban?
It was put in place to give every user a chance to buy items. Otherwise, the shops would be bought out by users with the fastest computers all the time. It's great in theory, but there are still so many users and so few items stocked that unless you have a fast connection you will not be able to get items from the main shops.
How do I know if I have been banned?
It will usually happen without warning...all of a sudden,
you simply will not be able to see the shops. If you refresh 5 times in 3 seconds
you are banned on shops.
How long does a restock ban last?
It varies randomly from time to time. You may be banned
for a few minutes, but you may be banned for a few hours.
Can I be frozen for too many restock bans?
No. Unlike being warned for breaking rules, you are simply a fast clicker/page reloader. It can be annoying, but your account will be safe.
When people buy from my shop, why don't I get the NeoPoints?
When someone purchases something from your shop, all your earnings go into your shop till. You can withdraw money from your shop till by clicking on your Sales History. Here it will show you all recent sales and tell you how much you have in your till. Type in the amount you wish to withdraw and your account will be credited immediately.
I can't see my shop in the shop wizards list!
The shop wizard has hundreds of thousands of shops to search through, it can't do it all at once. So it takes the first few that it finds and shows them to you. If you refresh the wizard, then you will get a new list of shops, but it really is luck of the draw. If you listed a competitively priced item and it is not showing up, check your shop till, your item may have been picked up already!! Try doing a search on one of the rarer items in your shop. Remember, it might be showing up in someone else's shop wizard list even if it is not in yours!
Actually, the listing isn't as random as it may seem. It searches by the first character of your user name, whether it's a letter, number, or an underscore. That means that certain shops are always grouped together. Keep refreshing until you find a listing with shops in your group.

Based on this chart, if I wanted to find my shop, I would keep refreshing until I saw a list with shops beginning with C, K, S, or 3.

How do I create my own shop?
To create your own shop, click on 'Shops' (in the yellow side bar). Then click on Your Shop (this is the shop shape in the toolbar, it is next to your items). You can create your own shop by clicking on 'Create/edit' shop.
How do I stock my shop?
To put items into your shop, you need to buy the items from an official store or another person's shop. Then go to your items, click on the item, and select 'Put into my shop'. To make an item go on sale in your shop, you need to go back to 'Your Shop' and enter a price for each item.
ITEMS WILL NOT APPEAR IN YOUR SHOP UNLESS YOU DO THIS!
How do I restock my shop?
Once you have created your shop, you will need to put some items into it. Go to 'Your Items' and click on the item you wish to put into your shop. Select 'Put into your shop' from the drop down menu and click 'Submit'. When the window refreshes, press the 'Close and view shop' button.
Alternatively, if you are placing more than one item into your shop, you can use the Quick Stock function. This is a text link at the top of 'Your Items'. If you use this, just click on the circle nearest the items you wish to put in your shop. When you have selected all you want, click submit at the bottom of the page. If you make a mistake, press 'Clear Form'. Then click on 'Your Shop' in the toolbar at the top of the Quick Stock page.
Once you are at your shop, you need to set a price for each item. You will see the picture of each item, how many you have in your shop, and how much you want to charge for it. Items will not go into your shop unless you set a price greater than 0. Type the price you want to get for each item in the text box and click 'Update Prices'. Your items will now go on sale.
If you have an item you want to remove from your shop, click on the blue X on the right hand side. The item will now be returned to 'Your Items'.
My shop is full, yet I cannot see any items when I go to my Shop Front, why?
You need to enter the price you want people to pay for your items before they will go on sale. Click on 'Stock' and enter prices for your items. They will now be displayed when people go to your shop.
Why can't we have chats in our shops or guilds?
Unmonitored, live chats are against Neopets terms and conditions. We cannot control what is said in them, or ensure our players safety when using them. As there are some very nasty people out there, we cannot permit them to be used.
Can I delete my Shop?
Once you have created a shop, you cannot delete it. It is yours forever. You can just stop using it whenever you wish though.
Once you've paid for it, you may as well get some use out of it. If you don't want to sell things anymore, why not use it for a gallery?
How do I buy an item from someone elses shop?
Once you have entered another person's shop, you will see a list of all the items they have up for sale. The price they want for each item is shown under the picture. When you want to buy something, click on the item you want to purchase.
A little window will pop up checking that you did click on the correct item and that you are willing to pay that amount. It will say something along the lines of :
Are you sure you wish to buy Peach Snowball for 500NP?
If that is the item you wanted to buy and its the price you are willing to pay, click 'OK'. If you clicked on the item by mistake, click 'Cancel'. If you press OK the shop will refresh, the item will now be removed from the shop, the Neopoints will be deducted from your account, and the item will be placed in Your Items. You can either carry on shopping, or go to another part of the site.
How do I find my shop?
The marketplace displays the largest shop first. When you first create a shop, it will not appear here. The fastest way for you to see your shop is to go to 'Shops' and click on 'Your Shop' (this is the small brown building to the left of the toolbar).
Other people can find your shop by searching for an item you have stocked in your shop via the Shop Wizard. Just make sure that your items are priced competitively and people will buy from your shop.
How do I edit my shop?
To edit your shop, click on 'Shops' in the yellow toolbar. When the shops page loads click on the 'Your Shop' link in the top toolbar. Once your shop loads, click on the 'Create/Edit a Shop' option. Now you can change your shop name, description, your shop keeper image, name and greeting. Once you have made your changes, press the 'Update Shop' button.
How do I make links in my shop?
There is a very easy to follow HTML Guide that will show you how to create links, insert pictures, and change the look of your shop.
Real friendly answer, right? Anyway...Here is what they have on the guide:
First you need to have a URL to link to, in this example I have used the Neopets url. I wanted to make the text click here link to www.neopets.com so I typed:
The only thing that will be displayed on the web page is the text click here. This would now be click-able. When you click on it with your mouse it will take you to the Neopets URL. You can make the text a different size, different color, bold, italic whatever but you need to start and finish the tags either side of the text. e.g to make that link bold I would put:
To make an image click-able you use the same idea but instead of typing
the text you put the image tag. E.g: |
How do I make a background for my shop/pet page?
To make a background for your shop, you just need to create an image. You can draw it by hand and scan it in, or if you do not have a scanner, you can draw it directly onto your computer. Most computers come with a drawing program. If you do not have one on your computer, go to www.download.com and you should be able to download one for free there.
Once you have your picture, you need to upload it to the internet. You can either add it to your guild pictures, or upload via another company. As long as you have it saved somewhere on the internet, you can link to it.
Then follow the steps in the HTML Guide and your shop will have a colourful background in no time :)

Background colour in shops
at the beginning of your shop's description and that image will be tiled as the background for your shop. You can get several Neopet backgrounds that you can use here. Alternatively, if you want a solid colour, or want a coloured background only in a certain area, you need to use a table. The simplest table would be to type this is your shop description : <table background="http://images.neopets.com/backgrounds/tm_chombybk.gif"> Don't forget to include the last two lines, or your table will be broken. Now you should be able to put a background colour, or image in your shop :) If you wish to position the table in the centre of your page, simply add the words align=center after <table , for example <table align=center bgcolor="red">. |
Why is the picture in my shop an X and not a picture?
Because the place where you are storing your graphics doesn't let you display the graphics on another webpage.
Angelfire is notorious for that...
How do I change my font color (in my shop)?
Basic HTML such as changing font colour is explained in our HTML Guide.
Real friendly answer, right? Anyway...Here is what they have on the guide:
For more specific colours you may need to use a hexadecimal code. This
is the unique code given to each shade of colour. All colours have a combination
of 6 numbers and letters that represent an exact shade. Some common codes

How do I add music to my shop?
Before we discuss this, please remember that music will DRASTICALLY slow the load time of your shop. This can annoy users and cost you lost neopoints. Most users prefer faster loading shops to cheap shops and will move on to the next shop on the shop wizard if your shop takes too long to load. Also, some music will crash other users systems. Unless your shop is a gallery or the music file is tiny, TNE strongly suggests that you do not add music to your shop. Having said that, here is what Neopets HTML Guide says:
Adding Music This is a very easy thing to do and can really brighten up your webpage. There are several ways you can add music. It can play in the background, play once only, play continuously, or you can let the person viewing the webpage decide what they want to do. First you need to have your music file saved somewhere on the internet. Simply replace the text http://images.neopets.com/help/beep.wav with the URL of your music file. Creating a player <embed src="http://images.neopets.com/help/beep.wav" width=200 height=40> This will create a player that looks something like this :
You can personalise your player by changing the height and width tags. This will alter how large it is. If you only want the 'Play' and 'Stop' buttons to be visible, you can use the smallconsole tag.

Am I allowed a contest in my shop?
Unfortunately the vast majority of shop contests are scams. If any user wins a prize it is normally one of the shop owners other accounts. Because there is no real way for us to monitor if a contest is legitimate or not, we have decided to ban all contests. This is to protect innocent players that could be tricked into purchasing over-priced items. Apologies if you are a shop owner that ran a honest contest, but you should understand why we are doing this.
If I report a shop or someone else, will they know it was me or will it be discrete?
If you report a shop it is complete anonymous. There is no way for the shop owner to know who reported them.
What are the guidelines for reporting a shop?
If you notice something odd, profane or against our terms and conditions (live chats, anything sexual, offensive language or images, etc.) please report the shop. We will check it out and if it is breaking any rules, we will take appropriate action.
Please do not report a shop just because it has items priced 100,000 or more. These are galleries and it is ok for them to have items that are unbuyable.
Why do some people price everything too high to buy?
Items that are priced at 100,000 np or higher cannot be purchased from other users shops. They know this...and don't need you to neomail them telling them about it. These items are for display only. If the user actually wanted to sell them, s/he would use the Trading Post or Auction. More information about galleries may be found in the next entry.
A gallery is a way to show off your collection. These items are not for sale, just for "show".
Do you have a collection or group of favorite items you would like other users to admire? You may want to create your own gallery.To create a gallery, move the items you collect into your shop. These items should then be priced at 100,000 np or higher.
For example, JC and I collect Aisha items and have an Aisha Gallery set up in our shop. I'm always on the lookout for anything with aishas in the name, item image, or item description. Even though some of the items, like the Pocket Calendar, are very cheap on the shop wizard, they are priced as unbuyable simply because they are part of a collection. This one is included in the Aisha Gallery because the calendar has a picture of an Aisha.
