What are Hit Points?

Hit Points are a measurement of how much life your Neopet has. If your Hit Points show 8/14 it means your Neopet has 8 out of a possible 14 points of life. When your Neopet reaches 0 Hit Points it can no longer fight in the Battledome and needs to be nursed back to health.

How does my Neopet gain levels?

Your pet can gain levels randomly as you travel around the site. These will appear as random events, although they are very rare. Instead, you can enrol your NeoPet on a course at the Training School on Mystery Island. (or Krawk Island) Here your pet can learn a whole range of things such as endurance, agility and even gain levels.

How do I enroll my Neopets in the Swashbuckling Academy?

You need to go to the Krawk Island (click on explore, them on Krawk Island). The Swashbuckling Academy is on the bottom right hand side of the map. Click on 'Courses', and then choose what course you wish to enroll your Neopet on. Once you decide, you will be told how many Dubloons you need to pay for the course. Give Captain Threelegs his payment and your Neopet will start their course.

Once you start your Neopet on a course at the training school can you change?

Yes at the Krawk one.

No, as soon as you select which of your NeoPets you want to study a certain subject it must persevere with that course until completion. Remember you need to pay the correct amount of codestones before you NeoPet can finish its course.

What is the difference between the basic, advanced and master levels in the training school?

The master and advanced courses are harder than the basic ones. The higher the level of your Neopet, the harder the course it must attend.

How do I pay for a course?

To pay for a course, you must have the exact codestones that the Techo Master asked for. Just return to the Training School with the correct codestones in your items. Click on 'Status' and you will be taken to a page that lists all the courses your Neopets are currently on. It also shows you what codestones you need incase you have forgotten. To pay for the course, click on the 'Click here to pay' link. The codestones will be taken from you and your Neopet will be able to finish its course.

What are codestones?

Codestones are mysterious rocks found in Neopia. They are not sold in the main shops so you can only get them from other users or random events. There are 10 different codestones: Bri, Eo, Har, Lu, Main, Mau, Orn, Tai-Kai, Vo Codestone and Zei.

Some examples of Codestones:
This mystical codestone is used for training pets in the Mystical Island Training School

This mystical codestone is used for training pets in the Mystical Island Training School
Mau Codestone
Tai-Kai Codestone
Lu Codestone
Vo Codestone

How do I know which codestone will pay for which course?

Codestones do not determine which course you take. Meaning, you may use a Lu Codestone to pay for an agility course one time and a Mau Codestone to pay for an agility course next time. The Techo Master will randomly choose codestones and you simply bring him what he wants.

Where can I find codestones?

Codestones can be found all over the site. You may be lucky and find one on the floor. This is very rare, so dont bank on it :) Most commonly you will find codestones using the Shop Wizard. Click on 'Shops' then click on the blue wigwam in the toolbar. Then simply type in the type of codestone you want, or just the word codestone and the Wizard will try his best to find you a good deal.

How do I use codestones?

Codestones are used at the Island Training School. Once your Neopet has completed a course, you will need to pay for it using codestones. The Techo Master will request certain codestones, so make sure you have the right type before you try to pay.

How do I take Codestones to Mystery Island?

You just need to have them in 'Your Items' when you go to Mystery Island.

What are Dubloons?

Dubloons are the official currency of Krawk Island. They come in different values (like our pennies, nickels and dimes) and are used to pay for almost everything on Krawk Island...including training courses at the Swashbuckling Academy. Here are some examples of dubloons:

Where can I find Dubloons?

You can only get them from random events, Coltzan's Shrine (if you are VERY lucky), or other users. There were so many cheaters that neopets no longer gives them for pirate game prizes :(

How do I use Dubloons?

Codestones are used at the Swashbuckling Academy. Once your Neopet has completed a course, you will need to pay for it using dubloons. Cap'n Threelegs will request certain dubloons according to what level your pet is at, so make sure you have the right amount before you try to pay.

How do I take Dubloons to Krawk Island?

You just need to have them in 'Your Items' when you go to Krawk Island.

The training school wont take my codestone, what do I do?

The Techo Master will ask for specific types of codestones. There are 10 different types and you will need to find the correct ones. If you try to give the wrong type, they will not be accepted. If you have forgotten what type you need, go back to the Training School and click on your Neopet's status. It will tell you how far through their courses your Neopets are, and what payment the Techo Master wants.

The Swashbuckling Academy wont take my Dubloons, what do I do?

Cap'n Threelegs will request certain dubloons according to what level your pet is at, so make sure you have the right amount before you try to pay. Note that any pet with a level higher than 40 cannot use the Swashbuckling Academy.

Course Type Neopet Level Cost Length
Sea Urchin 10 and under
1 Dubloon
4 hours
Deckhand 11-20
2 Dubloons
6 hours
Pirate 21-30
5 Dubloons
8 hours
Cap'n 31-40
5 Dubloons
10 hours

You can use the Dubloon-O-Matic to combine smaller dubloons into larger ones, but you cannot break the lager ones into smaller ones. For example, you can put in two One Dubloon Coins to get one Two Dubloon Coin, but you cannot put it one Two Dubloon Coin and get two One Dubloon Coins.

Is there any way to back out of island training?

I am afraid there is no way to back out of a island training course once you have started it. I suggest using the shop wizard, auctions or trading post to look for the codestones.

How do I increase my Neopets Health?

One way to permanently increase the number of hit points your Neopet has is to give them a special item such as Kauvara's potion. Unfortunately these items are extremely rare and very expensive.

You may also raise your Neopet to higher hit points that it started with (e.g 14/11), but this will wear off after a while.

Another option is by completing quests given to you by the Dark Faeries in random events (NOT Jhudora's)

You can also try zapping your pet with the lab ray...but this is unpredictable.

The surest (but slowest) way to increase hit point/health level is training for endurance.

If my pet has an ability, will it lose that ability when it goes up a level?

No, once your Neopet has learned an ability, it will have it forever.

How do levels and abilities work?

When a Faerie blesses your Neopet, it can give your Neopet an ability. Some are very strong so your Neopet needs to be at least a certain level to learn them. Providing your Neopet is strong enough to learn, it will receive the most basic ability first. In order to get the top abilities, your Neopet must know all the other abilities that come before it.

Bottled Faeries bless your pet with Battledome abilities when you release them.

If you release a Faerie and your pet is not strong enough to learn a new ability, that Faerie will fly away and you will get nothing. For a list of abilities and the level required, click here.

How does my Neopet gain abilities?

In order for your pet to gain an ability, they need to be blessed by a faerie. Occasionally a Faerie will give them a special skill to use in the Battledome. This ability depends on what level your NeoPet is, and if they have learned any previous abilities.

If you can find a Bottled Faerie and release it, they will normally bless your NeoPet as a reward for your kindness.

If you release a Faerie and your pet is not strong enough to learn a new ability, that Faerie will fly away and you will get nothing. For a list of abilities and the level required, click here.

Where is the secret lab?

Ahhh... that is a secret! If you collect all nine Secret Lab Map Pieces, the way will be revealed to you. Watch out though, the lab ray can do many strange things to your NeoPet!

There's really not much of a secret to the secret lab. You must collect and turn in the Secret Lab Map Pieces to get there, though. Nobody can get you access any other way. Period.

This leads to the Secret Laboratory. There is a mysterious ray in the lab that you can use once a day on one of your pets. The effects of the ray are random....you could change your pet's species, lose levels, raise stats, and the most popular...turn your pet into a robot. Even though the pieces disappear once you have used them (like the other maps) you will always have access to the lab ray after completing this map

What does the Secret Map do?

When you collect all 9 pieces of the Secret Lab Map, you can then enter the secret lab. Inside this you will find all kinds of wonderous things, including the mysterious ray gun.

The lab ray is one of the favorite ways to change pets. It's totally random, but many users zap their pets daily. Pieces are expensive, though, so until you've built up your savings you may want to sell the pieces you find.

Can Neopets fight?

Yes, if you want to test your NeoPets strength in battle, you can visit the Neopian Battledome. You can find this by clicking on 'Games' and then 'Battledome'. Here you can battle other player's pets, as well as a whole host of single player opponents such as the Snowager and the Pant Devil.

If you need more help with the Battledome and what the various battle items do, there is a very good help section here.

When you are entering the Battledome you can choose from whatever armour, shield, weapons, abilities, scrolls and potions you have equipped your pet with. You won't actually be able to see your pet wearing a particular combination of shield, armour and weaponary but it will list what equipment you have available.

Can Tyrannian battle items only be used by Tyrannian pets?

No, Tyrannian weapons and armour can be used by any Neopet. Unless the item specifically says it is only for one type of Neopet, such as an Acara Helm, any Neopet can use it.

I was playing in the battledome but my opponent hasnt made a move for ages, what do I do?

If you are in a fight and your opponent hasn't made a move for over 30 minutes, this normally means they are not going to complete the fight. You will have to withdraw from the fight. Return to the Battledome and click on 'Status' at the top of the page. This will now load a page with all of your Neopets on it and their current status. Underneath the Neopet you were battling with will be a challenge box. At the bottom of this challenge box is a link that you need to click on in order to withdraw from the fight. Once you withdraw you will be able to enter other fights as normal.

How do I withdraw from a battle?

If you are stuck in a fight that you want to get out of, you can always withdraw. You will be penalised for this as it is a bit cowardly, but sometimes you may need to do this. Go back to the Battledome, and click on 'Status'. This will show a list of all the fights you are currently in. To withdraw from a fight, click on the 'Withdraw' link at the bottom of the fight information box. You will now be removed from that fight.

Note: Clicking on "Status" will automatically withdraw you from any Single Player battle you may be in.

How do I restore my Neopets back up to full hit points if they are bloated?

There are many ways you can do this. There are a variety of potions, elixirs and healthshrooms you can give to your NeoPet to recover hit points. They all have different strengths so some will restore more hit points that others. If you are running low on Neopoints or cannot find any items that will heal your NeoPet you could also visit the Healing Springs in Faerieland. A kind Water Faerie will either heal your NeoPet, all your NeoPets or give you a special healing potion.

Healthshrooms are now retired items. Elixirs can only be used in the battledome. Healing Potions cannot be used in the battledome. (Feeding your pet will restore a few hit points, too, if they are not bloated.)

How do you know how strong, fast or healthy your NeoPet is?

You can view your Neopets stats at anytime by going to the Quick Ref page. You can get to this page by clicking on 'Pet Central' and then 'Quick Ref', or by clicking on your Neopet's name in the yellow side bar.

What does the Tyrannian Army Rank mean?

The Tyrannian Army Rank shows how well you did in the Great Tyrannian Battle. You can't increase it that much at present as we are at peace. Occasionally you will be able to gain a rank for completing quests.
