How do I feed my Neopet?

If you need some help learning how to feed your Neopet, there is a step by step guide to help you. Go to Pet Central, and then click on Feed Pet. (This is in the top menu bar). This page also contains some tips to feeding your NeoPet on a low budget. |
If you are still having problems, send your username along with details of any error messages you get to support@neopets.com. One of our helpful support team will get back to you asap.
If you are running low on Neopoints (have less than 2000NP), you can always visit the Soup Kitchen where the friendly Soup Faerie will be happy to give your pets free food.
There are other free foods available dailiy on the site. You can get a free omelette (good for 3 meals) from The Giant Omelette in Tyrannia. You can get a jelly (good for 2 meals) from The Giant Jelly in Jelly World. Click here for a list of all the daily freebies.
Why can't I feed my Neopet?
The following notes assume that something is out of the ordinary...a "bloated" pet simply doesn't want any more food.

Try reading our step by step guide to feeding your NeoPet. Go to Pet Central, then click on 'Feed Pet'. This will explain what should happen when you go to feed your pet. If you are not getting the drop down menus, or even the pop up window with the item of food in it, please check that you have Javascript enabled. You can check this by going to your browser's Internet settings. (A browser is the program you use to view web pages, most commonly Netscape, Internet Explorer, or AOL). |
If you are using WebTV, you will have problems with the site. This is because WebTV doesn't support Javascript. WebTV is working on this problem, so it should work very soon.
If you are not using WebTV, and you have Javascript enabled, send your username and details of the problem you are experiencing to support@neopets.com. A member of our support team will contact you asap.
My pet wont eat certain foods!
All Neopets' personalities are different and sometimes they will not eat certain foods, and they will never eat it. You can always feed it to another of your Neopets!
If your pet doesn't like a food, don't expect it to ever like. JC doesn't like Neo Tacos, but oddly enough she does like nachos, fajita chips, etc...

My Neopet is bloated and it won't take the Flat-u-less pills, what do I do?
If your Neopet says it is bloated, this doesn't mean it is ill. It just means it has eaten a little too much. Don't feed it for a day or two and it will get better on its own.

My pet is bloated, what does this mean?
Sometimes your pet may be bloated but that doesn't mean it's sick or needs Flat-U-Less pills. It ate too much! Just give it a few days before you feed it again.
How do I play with my Neopet?

There are well over 60 different games to choose from. Some of these you play with your NeoPet, others you play as a NeoPet's character. To see what games you can play click on Games in the yellow side bar. |
As well as the games, you can buy toys from the Toy Shop. Once you have bought something, go to Your Items and click on the toy you wish to play with. You play with your pet by selecting 'play with [your pet's name]' from the drop-down menu that appears.
Can I see my Neopet playing with it's toys?

In some games such as Neopoker (and Kacheek Seek) you play against your NeoPet, so you do see their picture. When your NeoPet plays with a toy, you do not actually see them play with it, but you see them when they have finished playing. |
My pet is bored of games, what can I do?
If you play one game too much, your Neopet may well get bored and want to play something else. Just don't play the game they are bored of for a day and they will be back to their fun-loving self.
Can Neopets die?
No, NeoPets do not die. If you do not look after your NeoPet and don't feed it, it will get very hungry and be dying. It won't actually die though and you can nurse it back to full health with enough attention.
Will my Neopet die?
You can sign off whenever you like. Your Neopet will still be there. Neopets do not die. You don't have to feed it every day but if you do not look after your Neopet and don't feed it, it will get very hungry and be dying. It will also be very sad. It won't actually die though and you can nurse it back to full health with enough attention.
If you plan on being away from your pet for a long time, you don't have to worry about it getting enough care. Simply put your pet in the NeoLodge until you return, and your pet will have a vacation, too.
My Neopet has changed species help!

If your NeoPet has played with a magical plushie, or has been zapped by the lab ray, it may well have changed species. The only way for you to change your NeoPet back is to get a morphing potion. For example if your Green Shoyru was turned into a Yellow Meerca, you need to find a Green Shoyru morphing potion to restore your NeoPet. |
If I paint my Neopet, can I paint it again?
You can paint your NeoPet as many times as you wish, you just need to get your hands on the elusive paintbrush or morphing potion. Each paintbrush can only be used once, so to paint your Neopet again, you need to find another paintbrush.
You cannot combine paint colors. For example, if you paint your pet Faerie and then paint it Electric, you will have an Electric painted pet. You will not have an Electric Faerie pet.
What happens to Chia's when they eat Chia Pops?
If you feed a Chia Pop to a Chia, a strange thing happens. The Chia may well change into a special fruity type of Chia :)

Note that only Chias are changed by Chia Pops.
What does a Magical Plushie do?
Magical Plushies have special powers, be careful who you let play with it. If your NeoPet is a different species to the plushie, it could well be transformed. For example a Red Magical Meerca Plushie will turn your Green Shoyru into a Red Meerca if you let him play with it.
Can my Neopet wear clothes?
At the moment clothes cannot be worn by your neopet. This is something that will be added eventually, but we are working on other projects first.
Clothes from the clothing store are mainly used in Fire Faerie Quests. Note that some of the paint brushes provide clothes or costumes for your pet (like Desert and Pirate).
How do I increase my Neopets Health?
You can give them a special item such as Kauvara's potion, but these items are extremely rare and very expensive. The most common ways to increase health is through Dark Faerie Quests and taking Endurance courses at the training schools. You can also try the Lab Ray, but that is always unpredictable.
Can I heal my Neopet for free?
Yes, you can always try visiting the Healing Springs in Faerieland. A kind Water Faerie will try to help your Neopet.
