How do I build a home for my Neopets?
You can build a home for your Neopets, called a Neohome right now. You can only build one house per owner, but it is completely up to you what it looks like, how it is decorated, what size it is, where the doors are etc. You can even add different flooring, wallpaper and security systems.
NeoHomes were first introduced on March 8, 2001. After a wait of almost 15 months, Neopets released the NeoGarden option on May 3, 2002. There has been a debate from the beginning concerning the use/worth of these NeoHomes and NeoGardens, with strong feelings on both sides. My personal feelings on the issue are pretty much the same as my views on the rest of the site: The whole point of earning neopoints is to spoil your pet (and your friends). Yes, its a waste of np, but so what? I like having a happy (some say spoiled) pet.
Before you even buy the land for your home, take the time to sketch out what you want. If you have more than one pet, they may each want a room of their own. Will you want a kitchen or do you always eat on the run? How about hallways? By planning out what you want to put where, you can prevent having to demolish a room because you need something else (or you put the door in the wrong place). Demolishing rooms cost neopoints. You do not get a refund when you demolish a room or cancel construction, so plan it out first.
The next step is to determine where you want to build. This may be based on how much you are willing to spend or where you think your pet(s) would be happy. Here are the different site location options:

I chose Terror Mt because I love the mountains. JC was largely indifferent since shes not real fond of snow, but loves the shorter trip to the Snowagers Cave and the Neggery. Then buy a building permit for that land. When it is completed, you will be notified by neomail that your land is ready to build on.
Only one room or garden may be built at a time. This is why it is helpful to have a sketch to look at. Click on the area you want the room/garden to be built and a pop up menu will appear.
Now you need to decide what to use to build your room...I don't suggest chocolate if you are living in the Lost Desert, and bamboo would look great in Mystery Island.

How do I see my Neopets in my NeoHome?
You can't actually see your Neopets inside their NeoHomes, but you can design what wallpaper, carpets, furniture etc.. is inside. To see the inside of your NeoHome, go to 'Pet Central' and click on the NeoHome link.
How do I put furniture in my Neohome?
If you purchase furniture from the Furniture Shop , you will be able to place it into one of your NeoHome's rooms. Each of your rooms will have an ID. This is a number that is unique to that room. You can find this out by going to your Neohome and clicking on the room.
Once you know what room you want to furnish, go to 'Your Items' and click on the piece of furniture you wish to add. Select the ID of the room you want to put it in from the drop down list. Press 'Submit' and your furniture should now be in your room.
Go back to your Neohome and you will be able to arrange your furniture.
You can now name rooms, so the ID number is no longer needed. Simply select the name of the room or garden from the item drop down menu.
How do I take furniture out of my Neohome?
To remove any of your items from a room, go to your Neohome and click on the room you wish to remove furniture from. This will now load the page showing exactly what is in the room. Underneath the image is a button that says 'Remove Items from Room'. If you press this button you will be taken to another page that displays all the items in your room. Click on the item you wish to remove. That item will be returned to Your Items.
My furniture isn't saving its position, what is wrong?
Once you have arranged your furniture, you need to click on the black menu button (it is in the upper left corner of your room) and click 'Save'. Your furniture will now remain in the same position. To re-arrange your furniture simple move it around until you are happy, then press 'Save' again.
Despite the lock/unlock feature that pops up, locking it in place will not save it in that place. On the May 2002 edition of our newsletter, I provided these screenshots:

a garden
If you have made a mess with re-arranging your furniture and want to restore it to how it was last saved, click on the black menu button (upper left corner of your room) and click 'Reset'. This will restore your room to the last positions you saved them at.
If this doesn't fix it, try removing the offending item. Click on the 'Remove Item' button at the bottom of the page. Simply click on the item you wish to remove and it will be returned to your items.
How do I move furniture in my Neohome?
Once you have put furniture in your Neohome, you can move it around, rotate it and put things on top of each other (e.g put a lamp on top of a table).
You drag an item to move it, and mouse over an item to highlight it. Move your mouse over its red dot to see the item options. Rotate, lock (to make item temporarily unmovable-useful for a carpet which you wanna lay down and not move), and on some items the 'a' or action button is available, which turns on/off animation (for items like robo-pets). If you want to raise or lower an item, click on the plus (+) or minus (-) keys while the item is highlighted.
These instructions are listed in the game. Simply move your mouse over the small black bar in the top left hand corner and click on 'Info'.
Can I move my neohome to a different address?
No, I am afraid once you have built your Neohome, you cannot move it to another location.
Is it possible, after construction of a room to add extra entrances?
No, not once it has been built. You need to consider what layout you want your Neohome to have before you actually build it.
This is why I suggest drawing a quick "blueprint" or layout of where you want things before you start.
How do I get security systems and heating for my Neohome?
The type of extensions that are available to you, depends on the size of your Neohome. The more rooms you have, the more options will become available such as carpets, lighting, heating, security systems and insurance.
To unlock the different extension options, you must have at least the following number of rooms:

Note that costs are calculated per room. The more rooms you have, the more expensive each option is.
Why don't I have the option for all the extensions?
You need to have a certain number of rooms in your Neohome before you are able to use extensions. Keep adding on to your Neohome to gain more options! If you remove extensions in the future, you will not get your Neopoints back.
To see all the extension options, click here.
I demolished a room, where's my furniture?
Unfortunately, if you demolish a room without removing the furniture, it is destroyed along with the room. If you want to add or remove doors in a room you must demolish that room and create a new one. You will not get your Neopoints back, and will have to pay to create a new room.
Can I demolish my Neohome?
Once you have applied and paid for land you cannot delete it or sell it. However you can demolish all the rooms of your Neohome if you don't want it anymore. You will not get Neopoints back for what you spent on your land or Neohome.
Remember to take your furniture out of the room before you demolish it!
How do I name my rooms?
To name your room go to the Neohomes page. Then click on 'Add/remove rooms or gardens'. Click on the room you wish to name, a new window will pop up. You can then enter the name in the text box and select a type of room if you wish. To update your changes click 'Update Room'. Not (sic) DO NOT click on the 'Demolish Room' button :)
Once your changes have updated click the 'Close Window' button.
On an extension option at the neohomes,it usually states either remove or update, if you remove, will it remove a level or the whole thing?
It will remove everything, not just one level.
In other words, if you have Chandeliers (Lvl 6) lighting your NeoHome, removing the Lighting extension option will not reset your lighting to Fashion Lamps (Lvl 5). It will set you back to the beginning and you will not get any neopoints for it...just as if you demolished a room.

Where do I get things to put into my NeoHome or Garden?
The most basic answer is "furniture and garden centers". But explore the site and you'll find other things that can be put into your NeoHomes and Gardens.
Furniture and garden shops are:
