Can my Neopets get jobs?
Yes, if you think your Neopets should start to earn their keep you can go to the Employment Agency in Faerieland and find a suitable job. The pay, benefits and hours will differ depending on your Neopets age, level and strengths.
Actually, your Neopet doesn't do anything to "earn their keep"...you do all the work. It would be nice if there were a way they could earn a little extra on their own, but this isn't it.
Are the jobs worth the work?
Yes and no. If you are lucky enough to find a basic job that will earn more than you will have to spend, then go for it. If you are wanting to show off and have lots of neopoints to waste, go for it. Otherwise, better find something else. TNE certainly doesn't think it's worth using a Job Coupon on...especially since Neopets isn't giving them out right now.
How does the employment agency work?
If your Neopets are getting too expensive, you can send them out to work. Pick a job for them to do in the Employment Agency from a list of all the currently available jobs. Jobs either involve finding certain items to turn in, or reaching a particular score in a particular game. In both cases, once you finish the job, you return to the Employment Agency for your reward!
Once again, your Neopet doesn't do anything ...you do all the work.
Where is the employment agency?
It's in Faerie City. Once you enter the city (Explore----->Faerieland----->Faerie City), it's near the Palace.
How do you apply for a job?
Go to the Employment Agency in Faerieland. Click on "Basic Jobs" or "Super Jobs", and then pick whichever job sounds interesting!
Keep in mind that it is up to you to complete the jobs in a certain amount of time For a sample list, see below. On the Neopets site, the "Apply for this job" would be a link that would assign that job to you.
What is the difference between "Basic" and "Super"
jobs?
"Basic" jobs do not require a Job Coupon to complete. Often they are simply scoring a certain number of points. If you are going to use the Employment Agency, these are probably the best ones. Here are some sample "Basic" jobs.

"Super" jobs do require a Job Coupon to complete. In addition to the expense of the items (which can be quite a bit less than the posted reward), you also should keep in mind the cost of the Job Coupon. Here are some sample "Super" jobs.

How do I find the items I need to finish a job?
Fortunately, this is not a "quest". That means you can use the Shop Wizard to find the items you need in addition to the Trading Post and Auction Genie. Keep in mind, you do have a set time limit. Use the Shop Wizard first whenever possible because both the Trading Posts and Auctions take time.
Where do I turn in my items when I have finished a job?
When you have collected all the items you need for your job, go to the Employment Agency, click on "Status", and then click on the pet whose job you are trying to complete.
What happens to the items that I turn in?
As with quest items, they are removed from your inventory. Before you turn them in, make sure they are in your inventory (and that you are going to get a reward big enough to cover your costs).
I got the items, but it says I don't have a job, what do I do?
When you apply for a job, you need to make sure that you really did get the job before you run off and get the items! Check the Status page after you apply for a job to make sure that your pet has the job you think he (or she) does. If you take too long to complete a job, the job may be deleted automatically, and there will be no record of it, so get moving!
Where can I get a Job Coupon?
At the moment Job Coupons are not being given out. They were only given out as part of a sponsored activity and may come back soon.
The Employment Agency
Contrary to its description, with the employment agency you still do all the work for your pet. You sign up for "jobs" (many requiring special color-coded job coupons) in the hopes of making some extra neopoints. Unless you are certain that the award amount will be more than what you have to spend I'd pass this area by. It's often cheaper, easier, and faster to earn neopoints on the games.
As far as the "Job Coupons" are concerned, this is truly a waste of neopoints. Job Coupons were awarded as part of a sponsor sign up over a year ago. That's the only way they were handed out. They are sometimes for sale in the auction area or available in the Trading Post, but if you have to buy one then there is no way you will come out ahead on the jobs. If you really want to do this, stick with the basic jobs...at least until they come out with a new way to get the coupons.
If you have a job coupon, here's how it works:
A job coupon can be used for any job that requires a coupon of that colour or lower; for example, you can use a Red coupon for a Green, Blue, or Red job, but not for a Silver or higher job. When you use a job coupon on a job, that coupon will be downgraded by one level (a Gold coupon will become a Silver coupon, a Red coupon will become a Blue coupon, and a Green coupon will disappear).
To simplify, once you use a coupon, it degrades
into the next lower level.
